My name is Yifei, and I am a dedicated high school student and the co-founder and vice president of Young Hearts and Old Souls. Our organization is devoted to bridging the generational gap between youth and seniors, fosteri

ng meaningful connections that enrich lives on both sides. Growing up with my grandparents, I am acutely aware of the isolation that many seniors experience, as well as the incredible wealth of wisdom they possess. This realization inspired me to take action, and along with a committed team, I helped establish this NPO with the goal of making a meaningful impact on our community. As vice president, I am responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our organization and for maximizing the impact of our initiatives. I work closely with our team to establish partnerships with other organizations, such as the Centre for Newcomers, which has played a crucial role in expanding our reach and effectiveness. My role involves collaborating with our volunteers and supporters, securing the resources necessary to sustain our programs. Additionally, I oversee the planning and execution of various initiatives, from organizing community events to coordinating intergenerational activities that facilitate meaningful interactions between the young and the elderly. One of our key programs includes English literacy and digital literacy classes, which are designed to help seniors overcome language barriers and engage more fully with modern technology. We also host social events, community excursions, and participation in arts and social clubs, all aimed at reducing social isolation and fostering a sense of belonging among our senior participants. Through these efforts, we strive to create an environment where seniors feel valued and connected, and where young people can learn from the life experiences of older generations.
