Word From the President
I am Nolan Wang, Co-founder and Chair of Young Hearts and Old Souls. My team and I are dedicated to creating meaningful connections between youth and senior citizens, fostering compassionate and inclusive communities. Growing up, I was deeply influenced by the wisdom and stories shared by older generations, but I also recognized the challenges many of them faced.
This inspired me to establish this organization to help seniors meet their specific needs while providing opportunities for them to share their valuable life experiences and skills with youth. We work hard to reduce social isolation, support seniors with language barriers and build cross-cultural understandings. Seniors in our program participate in English literacy class, digital literacy class, social events, community excursions, participation in community events, and social and arts clubs in the broader community. Young Hearts and Old Souls works closely with various organizations to plan and implement initiatives to support seniors.
A key philosophy of Young Hearts and Old Minds is valuing the contributions of older generations and providing them with opportunities to be celebrated. I hope our efforts will promote cross-generational communication, strengthen social cohesion, and foster mutual support between young and old. Ultimately, we aim to build a more harmonious, caring, and inclusive society for all.
